Dong Chen

Director of Business Leadership, China

Dong leads the development and implementation of the business leadership programme, the research and communication of the best practices of business leadership, and the engagement strategy and recruitment of business members. He also heads efforts to establish a low carbon technology leadership centre and supports the Greater China Director in management and administration.

In the past 12 years, Dong has worked in government agency, non-profit organisations, UN organisations and state-owned corporates. Prior to joining The °Climate Group in 2007, he worked for China International Engineering Consulting Corp. (CIECC), where he was the chief of international business marketing & management. He was also the senior environmental consultant for World Bank, IFC, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, UNIDO, and NDRC in various energy, transportation and environment projects, both in and out of China.

Before joining CIECC, he worked for the Centre for Environmentally Sound Technology Transfer (CESTT), a non-profit organisation established by the Asian Development Bank, and with the Ministry of Resources. 

Dong holds a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering from Tongji University (Shanghai) and became a Ph.D Candidate in Environmental Science & Engineering from Tsinghua University (Beijing) in 2003.
