Rick has worked in media creation for 25 years, specialising in children’s education and entertainment. He spent 15 years with The Jim Henson Company as both an Art Director and Director, before joining Nickelodeon’s development team for Dora the Explorer, where he designed the character of Dora.
He then became Creative Director for Mediaworks, overseeing the creation of The FDNY Firezone - a multi-media destination designed to teach fire safety to New York City school children. He spent the last seven years as co-owner of Eyepop Productions, directing documentary films for AMC, PBS and History Channel, as well as developing multi-platform properties, including The Danger Detectives, an animated, broadband series about disaster preparedness.
Most recently, Rick co-wrote The Year of Getting to Know Us, a feature film that premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and stars Jimmy Fallon, Sharon Stone, Lucy Liu and Tom Arnold.
Rick has an MFA in Film Production from NYU, a BA in Art from Wesleyan University, and is a member of both the Writer’s Guild and the Director’s Guild.
