  • Create technically credible and positive environmental benefits for the communities where clients and employee-owners live, work, and play
  • Reduce fossil-fuel use, water consumption, and waste generation
  • Use financial resources efficiently on behalf of employee-owners and HDRs clients
  • Capture opportunities to utilize and support client programs to meet HDRs sustainability goals
  • Provide professional technical opportunities and resources for staff to increase sustainability-related expertise
  • Steadily improve company operations and efficiency

More Information

HDRs core business includes the design of buildings, energy systems, water systems and transportation systems. The Companys 780+ LEED Accredited professionals and other specialists ranging from wind, solar & hydro energy, to integrated solid waste services, to transit to ecosystem restoration have implemented projects resulting in the avoidance of fossil fuel use, of waste generation, of water demand, and of GHG emissions in a manner significant on a national scale.

HDR has a unique evaluation tool to integrate measurements of sustainability, including greenhouse gas management, natural resources conserved, benefits to people and communities, and financial savings. The 2012 Plan Sustainability Initiative Team has begun to address what our sustainability metric should be. Measuring and reporting HDRs performance will become another balanced scorecard measure that drives our ability to compete in marketing, hiring, and production.

HDR is committed to sustainable business practices for its employees, clients and communities and for generations to come.
