IBM's CO2 Emissions Reduction Goal: Between 1990 and 2005, IBM reduced or avoided CO2 emissions by an amount equivalent to 40% of its 1990 emissions through its global energy conservation program.
IBM aims to further extend this achievement by reducing CO2 emissions associated with IBM's energy use 12% between 2005 and 2012 through energy conservation and the procurement of renewable energy.
IBM has an ongoing objective to implement energy conservation projects each year which will reduce or avoid the equivalent of 3.5% of that year's energy use. In 2008, IBM achieved a 6.1% savings against this goal.
