More Information

The Timberland Company is among the most environmentally progressive companies in the world and is targeting a 50% emission reduction by the end of 2010.  To meet its target, the company is investing in energy efficiency improvements at its facilities, increasing its purchase of renewable energy, developing on-site renewable energy projects as well as engaging its employees and consumers in its efforts.

In 2006, Timberland completed an on-site solar power project at its Ontario, California distribution center.  The solar array is one of the largest in the state and is capable of generating approximately 60% of the facility's energy. Timberland is also a pioneer in communicating the environmental impacts of its products to consumers.  Placing its "nutrition label" and "Green Index" on its products, Timberland provides its consumers with information on the climate impacts, resource consumption and chemical use associated with the production of its products.  As a bold leader on climate issues with a strong appetite to continue its leadership, Timberland is a key member of The Climate Group.
