My Acceptance Speech at JESSICA XUMO Magazine Shanghai Award Ceremony
By Changhua Wu, Greater China Director, The Climate Group.
(August 6, 2011)
On August 5, 2011, I was honored, together with other seven ladies, to attend the JESSICA XUMO Magazine (a Chinese women's magazine) 2011 Successful Women Award ceremony.
Jessica herself, although 6-months pregnant, came all the way from Hong Kong to award each winner in person. The occasion was grand but professional; for the first time in my life, I was asked to wear an evening dress! After I arrived in Shanghai together with my son yesterday, I was given a very proper make-over for this special occasion...
My Acceptance Speech
Thank you for giving me this award. Success is a heavy word for me, laden with responsibility. Holding this award, it is very difficult for me to associate my work with success.
In my views, everyone should be entitled to clean water and blue sky, and 'low carbon' should be the code of conduct for each citizen. However, in the second decade of the 21st century, clean water and blue sky are still a luxury, and a low carbon world remains to be but a dream.
Under this context, the establishment and development of The Climate Group, together with the cause we have been striving for, to some extent we became the pioneers in this field.
We are given more opportunities to promote a Clean Revolution with the help of governments, businesses and the general public, so as to fulfill our ambition, and realize our dream.
There are many of us in this cause. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my partners along the way, my dedicated team, and my family for their support and commitment.
I have a son of eleven. Thinking of him motivates me to keep carrying on. Our efforts today are for a better future, for us and for our children.
To achieve this, we indeed need the whole society to work together.
Many thanks.
