Making energy visible at No. 10

As I post this blog, the Prime Minister of Britain's house - "Number 10" ranks 10th on the list of 18 government departments in terms of energy efficiency.

David Cameron has challenged the central UK government to reduce its emissions 10% over the next 12 months, and if you have a few ££ to spare, you can hear all about the pledge at the Barbican in London later this month. 

What's most interesting is to see whether the 5 second data on energy consumption (for instance at No. 10) will lead to behaviour change. Some studies show that 4-12% efficiency is possible through data availability, visualisation and incentives (such as time of use pricing). Will government departments be able act on this information? Some companies are setting out to try to help them, like the Carbon Culture initiative.
