Nissan ups its production of ever-popular Leafs in the US

We have more great news in the EV world people, as Nissan Motor Co. has said that it will begin manufacturing motors for its Leaf electric cars in Tennessee, the US, starting in 2013. Of course I’m very happy about this!
The Decherd-based factory will benefit from a brand-new assembly line and up to 90 new jobs. Great numbers of new jobs in the Clean Revolution is thankfully inevitable, and watching companies start to ramp up production is a clear sign of demand for EVs too.
Demand is again proven by a tweet I just spied by @ClimateGroup that reads: GM volt supply to surge in race with Nissan’s Leaf #EV - both automakers have 1000s of custs. on waiting lists http://ow.ly/5On2m.
Now if that isn't evidence of rising demand and competition ramping up between the big guys, I don't know what is.
Nissan’s leadership with a dedicated product such as the Leaf, ensures that people get products that work well with all the auxiliaries designed to suit electric drive and battery storage.
Bill Krueger, vice chairman of Nissan Americas has said of the announcement: “Nissan’s Tennessee operations are paving the way to a zero-emission future for everyone. By delivering motors for the first mass-produced electric vehicles manufactured in the United States, our Decherd plant will play a vital role in making zero-emission mobility a reality for American consumers.”
And I couldn’t agree more. With Nissan taking this big step in the US, it’s clear that the Clean Revolution in the EV world is well and truly underway.
