The award was presented by BBC broadcaster Jeremy Vine at a ceremony in London this week.
Steve was one of 21 winners from the region and was described as a 'serial social entrepreneur' combining vision with a broad understanding of climate, energy and business issues and an ability to work at the highest levels of government and business.
His name now goes forward to a national final in October with a chance to win the title Ernst & Young Overall UK Entrepreneur Of The Year.
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year is the world's most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs. The unique award makes a difference through the way it encourages entrepreneurial activity among those with potential, and recognises the contribution of people who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievement.
