Europe
The Climate Group has a strong network of member companies and governments across Europe and the UK. These range from Barclays to Tesco, the Greater London Authority to regions like Catalonia and North-Rhine Westphalia. We work closely with our European members, as well as the many regions affiliated with our global States and Regions programs, to progress the policies and technologies of the low carbon economy. We are in regular touch with the European Commission on these issues. Additionally, we convene events European regions and business-government low carbon development events. (See, for example, our events in London, Berlin, Zaragoza and Barcelona.) Our involvement in the Connected Urban Development project, which provides a platform for cities and ICT companies globally to pilot technology solutions to climate change in urban settings, will link us to the cities of Amsterdam, Lisbon and Hamburg and Birmingham. In the coming year, we will continue to support EU climate policy leadership through our office in Brussels. And we'll continue our work with business, government and the media community to speed up the deployment of key low carbon technologies. In addition to our global work, our Europe team is focused on the following regional initiatives: Connected Urban Development Project. We're working ICT companies and European cities like Amsterdam and Hamburg on low carbon technology pilots in urban settings. Green Power Market Development Group. We partnered with World Resources Institute to bring the Green Power Market Development Group to Europe. We worked together to develop the corporate case for European businesses to install renewable energy capacity on their grounds – and to green up their power purchases.
