India
The Climate Group started operations in India in February 2008. We became officially incorporated in mid-2009.
Through research and engagement, we're working with business and government leaders to show how low carbon economic polices can support and progress India's continued economic growth and development.
In addition to our global work, our India team is focused on the following regional initiatives:
Corporate engagement. We've been working to build our corporate network in India. Already, we've gathered corporates from influential Indian businesses to discuss the role, and opportunities, for Indian businesses in leading action on climate change.
Our financial roundtable brought together CEOs of India's major banks, insurance, and investment institutions to explore how to speed up investment in clean technology, and tackle low carbon risk and opportunity through their operations.
HSBC Climate Partnership. We're also launching our HSBC Climate Partnership work on cities in India. This will help further our efforts on the Mumbai Energy Alliance.
Partnerships and activities
Mumbai Energy Alliance. We're partnering with the International Institute of Energy Conservation (IIEC), ICLEI, and the Urjavaran Institute, among others, to scale up energy efficiency across Greater Mumbai. The MEA joins together local government, business, utilities and CSOs in projects that will improve energy efficiency and cut costs across the city of Mumbai.
