North America
The Climate Group has offices in both Canada (Toronto) and the United States (New York, Chicago, Washington DC, San Francisco). Across North America, we're building support for strong climate legislation at all levels. And we're showing how low carbon technologies and policies are good for the economy, good for jobs, and good for international competitiveness.
We're working with New York City to light its parks and streets with low carbon LED lighting. In the Midwest US, we're showing how low carbon manufacturing will bring new jobs to the region. Our state and regions members, like California and Quebec, are showing national governments how low carbon policies will open doors to economic growth. Our corporate members, like the Coca-Cola Company and Johnson Controls, are helping make the business case for low carbon policy, investment and innovation.
In addition to our global work, our North America team is focused on the following regional initiatives:
US Policy. Through research and high-level engagement in Washington DC and the Midwest, our policy program is building the case and the support for ambitious domestic climate and energy legislation.
Forward Chicago. We're helping the City of Chicago engage leading businesses in select climate projects that will help the city reach its emissions reduction goals.
Climate Week NYC. With partners including the United Nations, United Nations Foundation and COP15, we convened more than 60 high-level meetings, events and panels to help build critical support for the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
Recycle Together. A powerful new partnership with the ABA, The Coca-Cola Company, Dr Pepper-Snapple Group, Nestle Waters NA, and Pepsi-Cola North America, to dramatically increase recycling rates as a means to fighting climate change.
