3rd World Summit of Regions on Climate Change

UPDATE: Montevideo Statement - April 2010


The General Assembly of the Network of Regional Governments for Sustainable Development (NRG4SD) will hold it’s third World Summit of Regions on Climate Change in Montevideo, 20- 22 April 2010.

The summit is a high-level political and technical event aiming to address all sustainable development issues surrounding climate change.

Specific objectives are:

  • To ensure the broadest participation of regions and communities in Latin America.
  • Building on work towards the Third World Summit to align all national, regional and departmental policies on Climate Change.
  • Create the conditions for scientific representation - high technical level, with active participation of local and regional academic world.
  • To promote tools for communication and analysis on climate change.

The summit is hosted and co-organized by the Uruguay Ministries of Vivienda, Ordenamiento Territorial y Medio Ambiente, de Turismo y Deporte, de la Oficina de Planeamiento y Presupuesto, del Congreso de Intendentes, y de las Intendencias de Canelones, Montevideo y San José, acting in the framework of the Metropolitan Agenda Program. The Climate Group are also an official partner for the event.
