European Corporate Renewable Energy Buyers Workshop

On 31 May 2006, the World Resources Institute (WRI) together with WWF convened the first European Corporate Renewable Energy Buyers Workshop. The workshop took place at Nike Customer Services Center and preceded the 4th meeting of the Green Power Market Development Group-Europe, a unique partnership dedicated to building commercial and industrial markets for renewable energy in Europe. The Group is convened by WRI in collaboration with The Climate Group.

This workshop presented corporate energy and environmental managers with a unique opportunity to:

. Learn about the business case for using renewable energy from peer companies;

. Tour Nike Customer Service Centre's 9MW wind park - one of Europe's largest on-site wind projects;

. Hear from energy managers of leading European corporations about their green power purchases and their on-site solar, wind and geothermal projects;

. Learn about European green power markets, the Eugene Standard and the interaction of green power markets with renewable energy policies.
