The Economist is staging an exciting new initiative in Singapore entitled the World Oceans Summit, from February 22-24 2012. Mark Kenber, CEO, The Climate Group will be speaking at the event.
The Climate Group is delighted to be an official Supporting Organization to the summit – all members of the group receive a 20% discount off standard ticket rate to attend the event. Reserve your ticket at the official website, select the relevant ticket rate and then enter the discount code "TCG".
The world’s oceans are the setting for increasing economic activity and will continue to be so for years to come. Only in recent years have scientists begun to understand the significant impact of this growing industrialization on the ecosystems of the seas and, by extension, on the broader biosphere we all inhabit.
The summit will examine how the increasing activity in and around the oceans can be managed sustainably and what this means for business and other key stakeholders. This gathering will bring together more than 200 global leaders from various sectors and disciplines, including government, business, international organisations, NGOs, think-tanks and academia to participate in a unique, outcome-driven conversation.
With such a broad cross-section of stakeholders committing at the highest levels, The Economist’s hope is that the event will help to re-set the agenda on the seas, and re-kindle a new and constructive dialogue on solutions.
