LONDON: On Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 3pm GMT, in partnership with UN @GlobalCompact, we will host a live Q&A with Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary, UNFCCC, to talk about the urgent need for business innovation at next week's COP19--and in combating climate change.
The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon launched “Caring for Climate” in 2007 with the UN Global Compact, the UN Environment Programme and the secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The initiative, which is endorsed by nearly 350 companies from 65 countries, aims to advance the role of business in addressing climate change by providing a framework for business leaders to advance practical solutions and help shape public policy as well as public attitudes. Caring for Climate brings together chief executive officers who support the statement and who set goals, develop and expand strategies and practices, and publicly disclose emissions as part of their existing disclosure commitment within the UN Global Compact framework--the Communication on Progress – Climate.
Ahead of the campaign's Caring for Climate Business Forum: Innovation. Ambition. Collaboration. event, which will take place on the margins of the UN Climate Change Conference in Warsaw next week (COP19, 19 – 20 November), where major companies will showcase their contributions and commitments towards climate action, the Q&A gives you the chance to find out more about the role of business innovation at COP19 and in the broader climate challenge.
