New York City joins The Climate Group and Together

In front of 740 US mayors, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced New York City's commitment to The Climate Group and to joining the 'Together' campaign being launched in the US early 2008. 'Together' will unite businesses, state governments, faith-based organizations, and cities to help reduce CO2 emissions.

In his keynote address to the United States Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Summit, Mayor Bloomberg said: "As leaders of our nation's most thriving cities, we have the responsibility to provide real solutions that increase energy efficiency and slow the effects of climate change.

"I am proud to announce that the City of New York has recently committed to join 'Together', a consumer engagement campaign established by The Climate Group, a global non-profit dedicated to catalyzing action to solve climate change - and I urge all of you to join, and to invite your neighbours."
