BT to launch Net Good framework that will "raise the bar for sustainable practice"

LONDON: The Climate Group and the Carbon Trust will join BT in London, on June 18, for the launch of BT’s Net Good methodology, vision and goal: to help customers reduce their carbon emissions by at least three times the end-to-end carbon impact of BT’s business by 2020.

Over the past year BT has developed a methodology for tracking progress against this '3:1 goal' with a framework which measures the two components of the goal. The framework will be officially launched at the event in London on June 18.

Kevin Moss, Programme Director Net Good, BT, says of the program: "BT’s Net Good vision is to help society live within the constraints of the planet's resources through our products and people. This is one of the three key components of our Better Future program, which is integrated with our business as the delivery arm for one of the company’s six strategic priorities “to be a responsible and sustainable business leader’.

"We have been working on this methodology for about a year, using our involvement in standards development, working with partners and bringing together things we have in the past measured separately into a holistic picture. It is time to put a stake in the ground. We hope that by creating and making available the details of our Net Good methodology we will inspire others to do the same, perhaps even try and do better than us, so that we can compare approaches, collaborate within and across sectors and help raise the bar for sustainable practice."

Opening with remarks from Ian Livingston, CEO of BT and ending with a networking lunch, the event will offer participants the opportunity to examine the different aspects of the framework, and take part in the important discussion about its future use and wider potential.

While this is an invitation-only event, we are offering five free places to attend the day’s events. Please email listing your name, organization and why you would like to attend by Wednesday May 22, for a chance to receive a place at this exclusive industry event.
