Date
11 February 2009

The Dutch Postcode Lottery has named The Climate Group among the new multi-year beneficiaries of its charitable lottery.

Over the next five years, The Climate Group will receive 2.5 million euros toward its efforts to secure a successful global agreement on climate change and to speed up the implementation of the low carbon economy.

Steve Howard, CEO of The Climate Group, says: "The Climate Group is extremely grateful for the Dutch Postcode Lottery's continued support and donation. This important funding will help us build a bridge to a cleaner greener world. As the current global economic crisis deepens, The Climate Group will work with government and business leaders around the world to develop new policies and markets that will kick-start a climate-resilient economy, drive smarter infrastructure and secure our long-term low carbon prosperity.

"The Postcode Lottery is an amazing organisation and the founders, staff and members should all be incredibly proud of what they are part of - a world class effort for a better, fairer planet."

Since 1989, the Dutch Postcode Lottery has donated fifty percent of its income to organisations working on behalf of people and the environment. Its 2008 revenues have generated a total of 488.6 million euros- meaning 244.3 million that will be donated across 65 charitable organisations. Climate-specific initiatives will receive over 4 million of this amount.
