Fleet Electrification Roundtable
- 28 February 2011
On Thursday, February 24, The Climate Group, in partnership with the Electrification Coalition, hosted a roundtable on fleet electrification in New York City.
The roundtable brought together public and private fleet managers, vehicle manufacturers, utilities and financiers to discuss both the opportunities and the challenges associated with incorporating electric vehicles (EV) into corporate and government fleets.
The participants also explored potential ways to increase the number of EVs purchased, to help the industry scale up and drive down costs.
Amy Davidsen, US Executive Director of The Climate Group said: “We believe that the adoption of electric vehicles, coupled with a cleaner electric grid, represents one of our best opportunities to significantly reduce carbon emissions in the medium term - and fleets are one of the best places to start introducing them to the market."
Robin Haycock, Head of Transport at The Climate Group said "EV20 is our technology program, which aims to build the momentum of the electric vehicles market through partnerships with car and battery manufacturers, electricity utilities, financial institutions and governments. This is the start of a year of action on electrification of transport at The Climate Group. We will undertake detail work within EV20 through Fleet coalitions, Policy and Finance initiatives launched with our membership and wider partners."
