Infographic: The business case for off-grid energy in India
- 17 February 2015
NEW DELHI: Today around 360 million people in India lack adequate access to grid-electricity. So how can we close this gap in a way that brings social, environmental and economic benefits? Off-grid renewable energy business models offer a smart solution, so our new report and infographic look at which ones have the greatest potential.
India's unmet demand for electricity presents a huge opportunity for off-grid renewable energy solutions, in particular solar home systems (SHS), and decentralized renewable energy (DRE) systems.
The Climate Group, in partnership with Goldman Sachs Center for Environmental Markets, published a flagship study to analyze trends and identify business models with the greatest potential for scale-up, in order to help boost entrepreneurial activity and increase private sector investment in the renewable off-grid energy sector.
