Intimate climate gathering provides forum for discussion on low carbon opportunity

NEW YORK: The Climate Group supporters, Mitch Draizin and Philippe Brugère-Trélat, graciously hosted a group of old and new friends of The Climate Group for an intimate discussion on the opportunities of the low carbon economy on 22 May.

Based in their beautiful home in New York's East Side, the exclusive event provided a chance for friends of The Climate Group to discuss key climate developments, as well as gain insight into the work of The Climate Group to mitigate future global warming.

The evening’s host Mitch Draizin set the stage by discussing the politicization surrounding the issue of climate change. Mitch highlighted the challenge of inspiring climate action in the face of political opposition, and called for creative tactics to advance the action necessary to realize the global opportunities that Paris 2015 presents.

Amy Davidsen, Executive Director for The Climate Group, North America, then provided an overview of the challenges the world faces, the economic opportunity presented by The Clean Revolution, and how The Climate Group works globally to accelerate climate solutions.

The conversation then switched to sustainable finance as Erika Karp, CEO and Founder of Cornerstone Capital Group, formerly of UBS, took to the floor. Erika spoke passionately about the “art of the possible”, while identifying ways in which corporate transparency and leveraging the fundamentals of capitalism can lead the transition to a clean energy economy.

A vibrant question and answer session followed, and guests continued the climate conversation long into the evening.

“Getting together with our network is always fun, but more importantly, it’s an opportunity to make connections across sectors and build the relationships that will help advance the transition to a clean energy economy”, remarked Amy Davidsen, Executive Director, The Climate Group North America.
