nrg4SD and The Climate Group join forces at Carbon Expo, Barcelona

BRUSSELS: On Thursday, June 1, Lluís Recorder i Miralles, Catalonian Minister of Territory and Sustainability and Northern Co-Chair of nrg4SD, and Mark Kenber, CEO of The Climate Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing the already close cooperation between the two organizations.
As two organizations working globally with sub-national governments and regions, nrg4SD and The Climate Group have agreed to coordinate their respective programs and take advantage of the complementary geographic coverage of their network, especially in developing countries. This will maximize the impact of their work and the benefits for their membership.
Mark Kenber, CEO The Climate Group says: "Both nrg4SD and The Climate Group represent very vibrant networks working to support the leadership of sub-national governments and regions in international climate action. This MoU is a further step in our very fruitful collaboration that will help us bring together our mutual strengths even more effectively”
The signing ceremony took place in the context of the Barcelona Carbon Expo, where the Government of Catalonia and The Climate Group also jointly organized a side-event on the benefits of “Green Technologies for the Clean Revolution” on Friday, June 3.
Luc Bas, Director of European Programs, The Climate Group, moderated the debate about the market developments, financial mechanisms and policy support required to reach scale for emerging low carbon solutions.
Minister Lluis Recorder i Miralles delivered the keynote speech before a panel discussion between Pedro Huarte, Trade Emissions Special Advisor, Spanish Climate Change Office, Rajai Aghabi, Project Manager, Catalan Energy Research Center, Jofre Ayala, Senior Sales Executive Energy Solutions Business for Iberia, Johnson Controls, Elsa Giménez, Sales Director, Agefred-Dalkia and Salvador Rios, Sales Manager for Latin America, Pro2 Anlagentechnik.
