Veolia Environment joins The Climate Group

FRANCE: Veolia Environment, one of the global leaders in environmental services, has joined The Climate Group. The French multinational aims to contribute to our work on the Clean Revolution through involvement in our programs on LEDs, EVs and smart information and communication technologies, particularly in the city context.

Veolia Environment provides global solutions to meet the needs of municipal and industrial customers in four areas - water, environmental services, energy services and passenger transportation. Recognizing the complex challenges posed by demographic change, urban growth, dwindling natural resources and climate change, Veolia Environment has established itself as one of the frontrunners in the sustainable management of public services, exploring innovative solutions such as smart grid technologies and intelligent traffic management.

With this expertise as well as its presence in over 70 countries worldwide, Veolia will be a valuable addition to The Climate Group’s Global Alliance of leading businesses and governments committed to tackling climate change. Its interest to particularly engage also with new Asian markets such as China, will contribute to our efforts towards international technology transfer and exchange.

Luc Bas, Director of European Programmes, The Climate Group, says: “With 70% of the world population expected to live in cities in 2050, sustainable urban solutions will play a major role in addressing the climate challenge, particularly in the fast-growing emerging economies. We are delighted to welcome Veolia Environment as a new member that is an acknowledged leader in low carbon innovations and will bring a lot of expertise to our initiatives in this area”.
