“We Mean Business” coalition to be launched at Climate Week NYC

NEW YORK: Amid growing evidence of the threat to profits and increased risks resulting from climate change, top businesses and investors will make the case for bold climate action in New York on September 22 2014, on the occasion of the launch of “We Mean Business.”
We Mean Business is a coalition of organizations that work with thousands of leading companies and investors from across all sectors, including BSR, The B Team, CDP, Ceres, The Climate Group, Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group and WBCSD. The coalition aims to amplify a unified business voice in the climate debate and highlight the fast-growing opportunities offered by the transition to a low carbon economy.
We Mean Business will hold a press conference call on Tuesday, September 9 at 10 am EDT/3 pm BST with Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and CEOs of organizations representing the coalition. The press briefing will be a unique opportunity to:
- Discuss the role of corporations and investors at the UN Climate Summit and during climate negotiations;
- Get a preview of the new initiatives that will be announced during Climate Week NYC; and
- Hear what the UN climate chief expects from business leaders this month and leading up to Paris 2015.

At the We Mean Business launch on September 22, on the Opening Day of Climate Week NYC, a global panel of leading corporate CEOs will discuss how a new clean industrial revolution is good for business and is strengthening their bottom lines.
