EP100

EP100

EP100 showcases the world’s most influential businesses committed to doubling their energy productivity.

Energy productivity is about getting more economic output from each unit of energy, and builds on the huge progress that has already been made on energy efficiency.

Doubling energy productivity in the US by 2030 will save US$327 billion a year in energy costs, add 1.3 million jobs** and reduce CO2 emissions 33% by 2030. And it could reduce the global fossil fuel bill by more than €2 trillion and create more than six million jobs globally by 2020.*

So it should come as no surprise that the US government has endorsed the goal of doubling national energy productivity, along with more than 100 US businesses. Early adopters are earning recognition from spearheading this transformation.

We invite companies around the world to demonstrate their leadership by joining EP100 and embracing energy efficiency as the ‘first fuel’ in the race to a clean energy future.

EP100, which The Climate Group serves as the Secretariat for, offers a forum for sharing best practices and showcasing the leadership of companies making progress toward bold, public commitments on energy productivity.

The campaign's top-tier (Leaders) are those companies that are prepared to publicly pledge to doubling their energy productivity. Companies must choose a relevant energy productivity metric, establish a baseline year as early as 2005 and pledge to doubling energy productivity within 25 years.

The Climate Group works with the world’s most influential companies to lead a clean energy transition. The pioneering campaigns of RE100 and EP100 offer businesses the least-cost decarbonization pathway:

  • EP100 brings together leading businesses who have made a commitment to double their energy productivity and are choosing smarter energy use to maximize  business value.
  • Companies joining RE100 make a commitment to switch to 100% renewable power and achieve a range of business benefits as they make progress on their journey.

How to join

EP100 offers a two-tier engagement structure.

• The top-tier (Leaders) are those companies that are prepared to publicly pledge to doubling their energy productivity. Companies must choose a relevant energy productivity metric, establish a baseline year as early as 2005 and pledge to doubling energy productivity within 25 years.

• A second tier (Members) will enable companies to engage with a commitment to an annual improvement percentage broadly aligned with the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4all) objective to “double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency.”  Companies achieving annual improvement of 2.5% per year will fulfill this commitment.
