Highlighting the emission reduction activities of 15 leading cities from Toronto to Tokyo.

Large cities, especially major metropolitan hubs such as London are traditionally perceived as dirty, environmentally unfriendly and inefficient.
However, given their density of infrastructure, and concentration of activity, large cities also have the potential to be extremely efficient.

The 15 city case studies here reveal how local governments are utilizing energy efficiency, cogeneration, diverse fuels, renewable energy and other clean technologies to reduce their emissions while creating markets and jobs which further contribute to the growth and prosperity of the city.
