- International Head of Development
Helen Walker is International Head of Development at The Climate Group, responsible for raising funds and managing key relationships with the charity’s funders, including high net worth individuals, corporations and foundations.
Helen's background covers all aspects of income generation, including corporate sponsorship, charitable foundations/trusts, donors, membership income, tenders and other commissioned work.
She has over eight years experience in a fundraising role, including line management of fundraising teams and training and mentoring of non fundraising staff to enable them to become competent and successful fundraisers and deliver their own annual income targets.
Prior to joining The Climate Group, Helen worked with partners in the energy sector for seven years at the UK fuel poverty charity, National Energy Action (NEA) as Income Generation and Marketing Manager. She successfully developed and implemented a Diversification of Funding Strategy to reduce NEA’s dependence on central government funding.
In her time at NEA, Helen led and embedded an outcomes focused approach to NEA’s work to ensure that the charity demonstrated to funders the difference their support was making. With a social research background, Helen is skilled in both quantitative and qualitative research methods ensuring the monitoring and evaluation frameworks for funded activities are established well and reported on correctly to satisfy the needs of funders.
Helen also served as a Trustee on the ScottishPower Energy People Trust board, a trust fund established to support fuel poverty alleviation projects. Before joining NEA, Helen worked as a Policy Officer at the North East Assembly.
