NEW YORK: In 100 days, The Climate Group will host Climate Week NYC 2016. Taking place from September 19 during the first UN General Assembly post Paris – and with the US elections just eight weeks away – the summit comes at a critical turning point in our global journey to address climate change.

With the landmark Paris Agreement in place, there are huge environmental and economic opportunities to be seized through achieving net zero emissions. And how the world embraces these opportunities depends greatly on the actions of the US in the coming five to ten years. Having shaped every industrial revolution of the last 100 years, today the nation has unrivalled capacity for innovation in technology, finance and business.

But what will happen following the election? The choices the next Administration make on climate and energy are vital. They will help determine whether the world can achieve net zero emissions by or shortly after 2050. The new President and Congress have the opportunity to create a cleaner, healthier, more prosperous America. And much is at stake for leading businesses, states, and regions that have already taken action to realize this future.

We will hear directly from these leaders at Climate Week NYC 2016. Beginning with an Opening Ceremony – which will place at The Times Center in Manhattan and with sponsorship by Siemens and Solar City – the summit will gather influential voices from business and government to demonstrate how continued investment in innovation, technology and clean energy will drive profitability.

Business leaders and policymakers will discuss North America’s role in leading global climate action after Paris, as well as ask what the new US Administration must to do to unleash the next wave of climate and clean energy innovation.

North America's leadership and innovation can tackle the challenges and opportunities that exist as we pursue a clean energy transition.
