86% of new power added in Europe last year came from renewables

Renewable energy accounted for 86% of all new European power installations in 2016 - 21.1 gigawatts (GW) of a total 24.5 GW of new power capacity.

Wind power installed more than any other form of power generation in Europe last year, accounting for 51% of total power capacity installations and generating almost 300 terawatt-hour - covering 10.4% of the European's electricity demand.
