PARIS: Today at COP21, The Climate Group published an infographic visualizing the first-ever climate data to be reported to Compact of States and Regions.

The Compact of States and Regions is a reporting mechanism for leading state and regional governments to submit their emissions reduction targets, which total 12.4 GtC02e by 2030 –  a number that is greater than China’s current annual emissions output. The governments' commitments are revealed in the Compact initiative’s first Disclosure Report, which was unveiled at the UNFCCC’s COP21 negotiations.

Launched one year ago, the Compact currently has the support of 44 states and regions together representing 325 million people and over US$10.5 trillion in GDP – which is one eighth of the global economy.
