“The decision to roll back federal vehicle efficiency standards is misguided – it is damaging to our health, harmful to the environment, and a missed economic opportunity.
We support the 23 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and four major cities who are challenging the administration’s rollbacks of common-sense regulations.
Science states that global emissions must be cut in half in the next decade to avoid the catastrophic effects of climate change. Despite the lack of federal action, we are encouraged to see state governments and cities leading by example and driving forward policies to improve air quality and end our reliance on fossil fuels.
States and local governments have always been ambitious in fighting against climate change and reducing their carbon emissions. Through the Under2 Coalition, a global community of 220 states and regional governments, we see that they are committed to keeping global temperature rises to well below 2°C, with a number of members1 driving forward this lawsuit.”
