Senior Manager – Energy Transitions (India)

Atul leads the India programs at The Climate Group. He has over six years of experience in sustainable energy crossing subjects that include renewables, energy efficiency and clean fossil-fuel technologies, and he has extensive hands-on knowledge in developing rural electrification policies and regulations. At The Climate Group, Atul is responsible for developing and delivering the India program strategy to help drive the clean energy transition. 

Atul is a graduate (MS) from Carnegie Mellon University in Energy Science, Technology and Policy and completed his under-graduate degree (BE) in Mechanical Engineering from Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune. He is a certified Energy Manager approved by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, India. He has also worked with the National Grid in the US and Thermax Limited in India. 

Before joining The Climate Group, he worked with the Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, a prominent not-for-profit organization shaping renewable energy and energy efficiency policies in India. He joined the committee appointed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for drafting India's Mini Grid Policy. He was instrumental in developing mini-grid regulations for the State of Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar’s Renewable Energy policy.
