Pujarini Sen

South Asia Government Relations Manager

Pujarini Sen is the South Asia Government Relations Manager at The Climate Group. She has worked on climate issues in the non-profit sector with international & national organisations, for the last 10 years in roles ranging from advocacy & policy lobbying, to research & communications, and networking.

She worked with the Climate & Energy unit of Greenpeace for 6.5 years before taking up this opportunity with The Climate Group. She led the renewable energy work as Senior Campaigner before becoming a Programme Specialist, leading and managing project teams, developing strategy, providing leadership & direction to colleagues with multicultural backgrounds.

Pujarini's interest in climate issues was sowed when she freelanced with Down to Earth magazine covering environmental stories in India's eastern state of West Bengal while studying English Literature at Jadavpur University. This was followed by coordinating a project with school children in the Sunderbans, affected by Cyclone Aila, in the lead up to 2009's UNFCCC COP 15, Copenhagen, which was turned into an exhibition and ran parallel to the climate summit to showcase the impacts of the climate crisis on vulnerable communities, by Centre for Science & Environment. This led her to get involved in youth climate activism in South Asia, before moving to short stints at 350.org as South Asia Regional Campaigns Coordinator, and Manager of Advocacy at Chintan Environmental Research & Action Group.

She's been a part of the Climate Reality Leaders global network since 2015; and has received fellowships from UNFCCC (COP 21, Paris, 2015, YOUNGO Global South Fellowship) & GCCA - Global Call for Climate Action (COP 18, Doha, 2012, Adopt a Negotiator Fellowship).

Her hometown is Calcutta – capital city of our newest Under2 Coalition member, and she misses the street food there very much.
