Climate Group has signed a joint letter to the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research & Energy, encouraging the approval of a strong Energy Performance of Buildings Directive package.
Alongside the Institutional Investor Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) and Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) Europe, we are urging the EU Parliament Committee to take a robust position on the directive in the committee vote on the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) reform in February 2023.
Buildings are a net zero priority area, accounting for approximately 36% of emissions in the EU.
The letter asks for:
- Minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) for both residential and commercial buildings
- Harmonisation of the Energy Performance Certificate system
With robust EU legislation, targeted national policy and subsidy schemes, business and investor solutions, we will be able to:
- Support energy security across the EU
- Boost EU green jobs
- Help reach the EU's climate and energy ambitions

EP100 member companies were challenged to optimize the contribution of efficient, clean cooling in meeting their energy productivity goals.
The LED programme, led by Climate Group, works with cities and businesses to transform how we light our world.
If companies globally made the switch to LED light bulbs, they would save around 403 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to the annual emissions of 371 power plants. This would generate up to US$94 billion in cost savings.
