Richard is a climate change and international development specialist.
Until 2013 he was head of climate change services at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, leading their work on climate and forest finance, climate policy and green growth. His clients included the UK Government's Department for International Development, the Norwegian International Climate & Forest Initiative, the Global Green Growth Institute and the World Bank. He also advised the World Economic Forum on climate policy and finance, and in 2010-11 led their working groups on financing sustainable land use and scaling renewables.
In April 2015 he was appointed as a Commissioner of the Independent Commission for Aid Impact in the UK, reporting to Parliament on the effectiveness and value for money of UK overseas development assistance. Richard is also a non-executive director on the Executive Board of the UK Government-funded Natural Environment Research Council.
From 2011 to 2013, Richard was a board member of the International Emissions Trading Association, and in 2014 he was appointed an honorary IETA Fellow. He is a Chartered Accountant.
