Our Under2 Coalition members were out in force at COP27 in Egypt
States and regions made the case for deeper engagement in COP processes and demonstrated their determination to be part of the solution to the global climate crisis.

We're aiming to become a net zero coalition by 2050.
We're calling on states and regions to:
-
sign the Under2 Coalition's new Memorandum of Understanding
-
submit their data to the Under2 Ambition Tracker.
And show their climate leadership.

About
The Under2 Coalition brings together over 270 governments representing 1.75 billion people and 50% of the global economy.
Our members commit to keep global temperature rise well below 2°C with efforts to reach 1.5°C.
Over 40 states and regions have committed to reach net zero emissions by 2050 or earlier. This is essential to limit global temperature rise.

Commitment
The Under2 Coalition Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is an ambitious climate agreement for subnational governments.
It fortifies our commitment to become a 'net zero coalition' by 2050 - with net zero emissions targets as a baseline for membership.
Governments which sign the Under2 MOU become part of the Under2 Coalition.

Our work
Climate Group is the Secretariat to the Under2 Coalition and works with governments to accelerate climate action through four workstreams:
- Pathways
- Policy action
- Transparency
- Diplomacy

Our leadership and governance
The Under2 Coalition has five co-chairs who guide the direction of our policies:
- California
- KwaZulu-Natal
- São Paulo
- Scotland
- South Chungcheong (Chungnam)
We also have a larger steering group, representing the diversity of our membership, which meets quarterly and supports the co-chairs in building the range and scope of the Under2 Coalition's work.
