Beijing’s first Global Cleantech Summit to bring together top innovators, investors and industrials to lead clean revolution

2 September 2014

BEIJING: Top cleantech innovators, investors and industrials from around the world will gather in Beijing on September 11 and 12, 2014 for the first-ever Global Cleantech Summit.

Convened by The Climate Group, an award-winning international non-profit organization, and the National Center for Climate Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC) of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the summit aims to focus the best knowledge, insights and expertise on how to scale up the deployment of clean technologies in China.

What: Global Cleantech Summit 2014

When: September 11-12, 2014

Where: V-Continent Beijing Parkview Wuzhou Hotel

No. 8 North Si Huan Road, Chaoyang District

Beijing, 100101, People’s Republic of China

Last year alone, global investment into clean energy was US$254 billion. Companies that take up the initiative in capturing this ongoing shift, by connecting themselves with cleantech innovation for green growth and sustainability, will be in a far better position to becoming tomorrow’s success stories.

China, which represents the biggest market of clean technologies in the world, is the best host of this global summit.

Changhua Wu, The Climate Group’s Greater China Director, said: “There is a growing sense of opportunity and momentum in the cleantech sector right now. Major businesses know they need to address supply chain risks and build resilience into their operating models. A new global ‘clean industrial revolution’ is under way and China is key to its success – or failure.

“The Global Cleantech Summit takes place at a critical moment for China, where the authorities have recently declared a “war on pollution” and committed to achieving an 'eco-civilization' that balances the need for economic development and an environmentally-friendly society. The summit will bring together key players from China, America and Europe – innovators, investors and policymakers – and will serve as a catalyst towards China’s clean revolution.”

Featuring 80 speakers mostly from China, North America and Europe over two days, the summit will assess China’s needs in terms of clean technology development and provide guidance for investors on how to become an effective and dynamic player in the world’s largest cleantech market.

The Global Cleantech Summit comes just two weeks before Climate Week NYC, the key international platform for governments, businesses and civil society to collaborate on low carbon leadership, which is also convened every year by The Climate Group. The momentum from the Beijing summit’s discussions and innovator-investor connections will be taken through to Climate Week NYC and is expected to influence the build up to the critical global climate talks in Paris next year.
