Energy

Accelerating the transition to cleaner, smarter
energy

Overview

Energy is the largest polluting sector globally, responsible for two-thirds of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. With renewable energy costs falling rapidly and the risk of stranded assets increasing, the clean energy transition is well underway. Energy efficiency plays a vital role in reducing energy demand, cutting emissions, and accelerating this shift -particularly in the built environment.

That’s why we’re working with leading businesses, cities, and governments to increase energy efficiency and drive the transition to cleaner, smarter energy. By showcasing the benefits, leveraging growing demand, and advocating for ambitious policies, we help create a more sustainable energy future.

Our work on energy

RE100

Corporate leadership on renewable electricity

RE100 is the global renewable energy initiative bringing together hundreds of large and influential businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity. Together, we underline the business case and send a powerful demand signal to policymakers and investors to help address market challenges.

RE100 is delivered by Climate Group in partnership with CDP. Our goal is to achieve zero carbon electricity grids at scale.

Smart Energy Coalition

Every single net zero conversation must begin with energy efficiency

The Smart Energy Coalition is a global corporate energy efficiency initiative, bringing together over 100 ambitious businesses committed to improving their energy efficiency. It was previously called EP100.

24/7 Carbon-Free Coalition

Powering a carbon-free future

We are working with 6 Founding Partners to shape a campaign to encourage more businesses to choose 24/7 carbon-free electricity, ahead of its full launch in 2025.

Renovation Revolution

Europe needs a renovation revolution

Increased deep renovation rates are key to saving energy, cutting emissions and meeting Europe’s climate goals. Climate Group's Renovation Revolution project brings together companies, sub-national governments and environmental sector NGOs to research and share findings on driving up deep renovation rates in Europe's commercial and public buildings.
