Communications Internship

The Climate Group’s summer internship program is funded through NYSERDA’s New York State Clean Energy Internship Program. NYSERDA is helping prepare the next generation of clean energy workers by funding internships for students and recent graduates at New York State’s clean energy companies. In order to be eligible to intern through this program all applications must be currently attending or have attended a degree program at a college or university located in New York State within the last 12 months and be a resident of New York State.

The Climate Group has a well-deserved reputation for strong communications in the climate world. All of our programs have communications at their heart. Public commitments, effective networks, public accountability are critical to the credibility of our Business Actions and Under2 programs.

The Climate Group runs convening events throughout the year, of which the largest and most important is Climate Week NYC each September. Climate Week NYC brings together business, governments, civil society, and communities to showcase climate action and solutions. Held alongside to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City every September, Climate Week NYC has been running for over 10 years and is the largest Climate Week in the world. 

The Climate Group has over 150,000 followers across our social media platforms, helping us to get our message out to the world, and a big incentive to those who might work with us.

Fall Intern - Under 2

Senior Manager – Climate Data and Accountability

The Climate Group is looking for an ambitious Senior Manager, with experience working in the climate data and accountability space, to join our Transparency & Pathways team within the Under2 Coalition Secretariat. The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance and oversight to the Under2 Coalition’s evolving climate transparency process as state and regional governments progress to net zero emissions. They will build on strategic partnerships we have developed within the climate data and analytics community and explore new opportunities to work together for credible climate action, including piloting cutting edge methodologies and contributing to business development.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Climate Transparency & Pathways; members of the Transparency and Pathways, Under2 Coalition, Business Actions, fundraising and communications teams; state and regional governments; external partners; and stakeholders and donors, to manage and implement Transparency and Pathways projects and coordinate cross-organisational collaboration. They will also play a key role in coordinating an organisation-wide Ambition and Accountability working group, helping to strengthen our data-driven campaigns and communications and determine Climate Group’s strategy on this work going forwards.

Government Affairs Manager – US & Canada (Under2 Coalition)

The Climate Group is seeking a Government Affairs Manager – US & Canada (Under2 Coalition) to support the Under2 Coalition Secretariat at the Climate Group. The Government Affairs Manager – US & Canada leads the annual government engagement effort in the United States and Canada. This includes leading on climate policy and advocacy with Under2 Coalition states, provinces, and regions as well as federal government agencies in the United States and Canada. It also includes informing key programs of the Climate Group with insight and analysis and building strategic partnerships to deliver on those programs.

Finance and Operations Officer, India

Finance and Operations Officer, India is a role for a talented, and experienced finance management professional to join our dynamic team in New Delhi. She/he will have the opportunity to play an important role in supporting financial management, operations, systems, and processes by interacting with relevant stakeholders from the auditor, legal, partners, and project excellence, finance team in the global Climate Group (CG) team.​

The Finance and Operations Officer will be responsible for carrying out day-to day accounting functions along with compliance, governance, human resource and office operations functions. The expected time division between finance and other roles is 75:25 approximately.

Communications Officer

The Under2 Coalition is the biggest international grouping of states and regions, with 260 members (and counting) leading on action to limit the impacts of climate change. This role supports them and this work by raising their voices and making the case for including state and regional governments in all decisions around climate change worldwide.  

The postholder will work with the Senior Communications Manager to enhance the profile of the Under2 Coalition through stakeholder, online and written communications as well as the delivery of key projects and events. This is a varied role that involves close working with governments, and requires skills across the communications spectrum. It also offers considerable opportunities for leadership and development, as the post holder will be a core member of multi-disciplinary project teams and will be responsible for overseeing the Under2 Coalition’s content creation and social media output.  

As well as focusing on state and regional priorities, the postholder will work closely with the broader Climate Group communications team on media opportunities and events such as Climate Week NYC.
