RE100 is a global initiative, bringing together the world’s most influential businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity.
Our mission is to accelerate change towards zero carbon grids at scale. RE100 was established in partnership with CDP.
RE100 member companies drive enough renewable electricity demand to power France. If RE100 was a country, it would be the world’s 10th largest in terms of electricity demand.
Our members have global operations and span sectors from manufacturing and pharmaceuticals, to fashion and technology.
They send a powerful signal to markets and governments about the demand for renewable electricity.
We are leading the way to a clean energy future
Companies in the commercial and industrial sector account for around half of the world’s end-of-use of electricity. We are switching this to renewables.
To achieve zero carbon electricity grids by 2040, companies need to be able to source 100% renewable electricity at reasonable cost. We’re addressing the market and policy barriers preventing companies from sourcing renewables by:
- Advocating for change at a global level. Our six Global Policy Messages support corporate sourcing of renewable electricity globally, according to RE100 member companies
- Advocating for change at a local level. We’re working with our partners and members to leverage corporate commitment and influence policies in markets with little or no access to renewable electricity
International work and partnerships
Our members have operations all over the world and in a wide range of industries. Since RE100 was launched at Climate Week NYC 2014, the initiative has expanded across Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific, and we are seeing rapid growth in Japan.
We partner with select organisations in key growth geographies to grow the membership and drive market change. We provide companies with access to peer-learning, policy support, and local market insight.
