Nehmat Kaur
Director of the Under2 Coalition and Subnational Governments
In her role as Director of the Under2 Coalition and Subnational Governments, Nehmat Kaur leads the strategy and effort with our network of subnational governments, from across 35 countries globally. This ranges from supporting subnational governments to set the highest possible climate ambition, take strong action via policy and projects, as well as subnational advocacy and accountability. She joined Climate Group in April 2018 as Senior Manager, South Asia Government Relations.
She is a climate and energy policy expert based in Climate Group’s London offices. She joined Climate Group from the Natural Resources Defense Council where she was India Representative for five years, leading evidence-based policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement across several topics, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy access, clean transportation, international climate policy, air quality and climate health and resilience. Globally, she’s worked with key government and private sector stakeholders for more than 15 years.
Nehmat has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Delhi and a master’s in development studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
