Here, the technology company Siemens shares how its global reporting system tracks progress, identifies obstacles, and highlights regional differences. The result? Electrifying a fleet of around 43,000 vehicles worldwide is not just a technical upgrade – it’s a deep strategic transformation. As part of our goal to reach net-zero operations by 2030, Siemens has launched the SieEV100 program 2021, which supports our commitment to the EV100 initiative and targets full fleet electrification across all business units and regions.

With more than 300 stakeholders involved across central functions and regional entities, ensuring alignment and shared understanding has been critical. Regular community calls, country-specific roadmaps, and targeted local support created a foundation for consistent progress and adaptability to local conditions.

Infrastructure has been another success factor. Siemens provides charging possibilities at many sites. Over 3,200 charging points have already been installed across Siemens locations.

Reliable data is the backbone of the transition. Siemens built a global reporting system to track progress, identify obstacles, and highlight regional differences. This allowed the company to respond early to emerging risks and spread best practices effectively.

Progress is already visible:

Around 12,000 Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) are now in use globally – a 28% BEV share.

  • In Germany, the BEV count more than doubled to 5,000, reaching a 42% share and a 94% BEV order rate.
  • In the U.S., 20% of the fleet is electric, and over 70% of new orders are for BEVs.

We believe success lies in a consistent, collaborative approach – and we encourage every organisation starting this journey.
