As world leaders attend the Leaders Summit on Climate, the Resilience Roadmap project is convening this one-hour conversation to hear from resilience leaders. The Resilience Roadmap is a non-partisan project convened in 2021 by the Duke University Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions and Susan Bell & Associates.
A strong national resilience strategy is urgently needed to protect public health and safety, national security, and our economy. Already grappling with the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, our economy has never been more vulnerable to climate disasters such as droughts, flooding, storms, wildfires, and extreme weather like hurricanes and arctic storms.
Our vulnerability to the stresses and shocks of climate change threatens our food, energy, water, transportation, and health security. The consequences of our nation’s fragility disproportionally affect those already marginalized due to economic, social, racial and environmental inequities.
With renewed resolve from the Biden-Harris Administration to tackle the climate crisis, the United States has an unprecedented opportunity to mobilize the American people with new jobs and lasting economic growth fueled by a national effort to build greater climate resilience.
