World Sustainable Development Summit 2022

Feb 16 2022, 05:30 GMT - Feb 18 2022, 11:30 GMT

Climate Group has partnered with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) as an Outreach Partner for the latter’s annual flagship event, World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS). This year the Summit is scheduled to be held from 16th-18th February 2022 under the umbrella theme, ‘Towards a Resilient Planet: Ensuring a Sustainable and Equitable Future.'

The Summit deliberations will examine topics such as climate change, sustainable consumption and production, energy & resource security, resilience, and global commons. Over the years, the Summit series has brought together 52 Heads of State and Government, 13 Nobel Laureates, 78 Ministers, 1827 Business Leaders, 2418 Speakers, and 26091 Delegates from around the world.

Helen Clarkson, Chief Executive Officer, Climate Group, will deliver a leadership address at the plenary session focussed on “Women Leadership and Our Common Future”. This session will be held on 17 February 2022 from 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm IST. Helen will be part of a panel of global women leaders. They will come together and deliberate on the path to a sustainable future for all genders, across all sections of society. The discussions will revolve around addressing the many challenges confronting women in leadership positions, including poor access to social and economic capital, constraining gender culture, lack of role models/mentors, and inadequate positive attitudes about their own personal capacities.

Other special features at the Summit will include ministerial sessions, youth plenary, corporate plenary, thematic tracks and release of Act4Earth Manifesto and Strategy Paper. By playing a constructivist role, the Summit will seek to reinforce commitment at all levels to enhance ambition and action through the World Sustainable Development Summit to create a more sustainable and equitable world for present and future generations.
