Our work in Argentina

Over 80 RE100 members report operations in Argentina, yet the majority of the country's power comes from fossil fuels.

Argentina has a 2050 net zero target, but wind and solar accounted for just 14% of the country's electricity generation in 2024. RE100 members source 33% of their electricity from renewables in Argentina, compared to 53% for RE100 member electricity use globally.

We are searching for our first Argentinian headquartered member to join us and help accelerate Argentina's energy transition. Is your company interested in joining RE100? Start the process here.

Recent policy updates

  • Launching RE100's work in Argentina in August 2024, RE100 held a high-profile launch event on the country's energy transition in partnership with CADER at the British Embassy in Buenos Aires. The event was attended by representatives of the Argentine business community, government officials and local NGOs.
  • At Climate Week NYC in September 2024, RE100 hosted a LATAM focused roundtable to explore how RE100 supports members with their 100% renewable electricity commitments. This event brought together leading companies in the region, including CEMEX, Globant, and Bancolombia, along with representatives from subnational governments in the Under2 Coalition from Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, as well as national delegations from the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.

In Argentina, we work in partnership with our local partner La Camara Argentina de Energias Renovables (CADER).
