What to expect when you interview with Climate Group
We know interviews can sometimes feel artificial, and uncertainty about what will happen can create unnecessary barriers. This guide explains what to expect, so you can feel prepared and supported. We share the same information with all candidates to ensure fairness and consistency.
Interview format
⭕ Length: Typically 45–60 minutes
⭕ Format: Structured conversation with two or three interviewers
⭕ Approach: Consistent structure, with room for natural discussion
There are no surprise tasks, tests or presentations at this stage unless we’ve told you in advance.
Preparing for the interview
People prepare in different ways. You’re welcome to:
⭕ Bring notes or refer to the job description
⭕ Take a moment to think before answering
⭕ Ask for clarification or check your understanding of a question
We’re interested in the substance of your experience and your way of thinking, rather than speed, confidence or polished delivery.
First-round interview structure
First-round interviews are designed to understand your background, experience and motivation for the role, and to explore how these align with the criteria in the job advert.
They also give you an opportunity to learn more about Climate Group and the role at a broad level.
While questions will vary slightly by role, the interview will usually include:

6. Practical questions and next steps
⭕ Availability and salary expectations.
⭕ The process ahead.
⭕ Time for your questions.
Second-round interview structure
Second-round interviews are designed to explore your experience and approach in more depth, and to give you a deeper sense of the role, team and how we work at Climate Group.
Again, while questions will vary slightly by role, the interview will usually include:
1. Introduction and context
⭕ Who you’ll be meeting and the focus of the second-round conversation.
⭕ How this stage builds on the first-round interview.
2. Role-specific discussion
⭕ Deeper exploration of the role’s responsibilities and priorities.
⭕ How you approach challenges most relevant to this role.

⭕ Discussion of specific skills, tools or ways of working.
4. Scenario- or task-based discussion
⭕ How you would approach a realistic work scenario, task or problem.
⭕ Focus on your thinking, assumptions and decision-making.
⭕ Any tasks or preparation will be shared clearly in advance.
5. Working style and values
⭕ How you work with others and manage priorities or complexity.
⭕ Alignment with Climate Group’s values and what matters to you in a team or organisation.
⭕ We’re interested in thoughtful reflection rather than “culture fit” or rehearsed answers.
6. Practical questions and next steps

Fairness and adjustments
All candidates are assessed against the criteria in the job advert using the same overall structure.
If anything would help you perform at your best, such as breaks, clarification, camera-off interviews or alternative formats, please let us know. Requesting adjustments will not disadvantage you in the process.
We aim to create a respectful and inclusive process that allows you to show your experience and potential as clearly as possible.
If you have any questions about the interview, would like to discuss adjustments or want to check anything in advance, please feel free to contact the hiring manager for the role. They will be named in the ‘Apply now’ section of the job advert, along with their role and email address.
We’re very happy to help.
