日本の自動車産業に未来はあるか 〜急加速する世界のEV化と日本の経済リスク〜

世界的な脱炭素化の中で、自動車業界も決して聖域ではありません。

EUをはじめ世界各国では相次いで厳格なCO2排出規制が打ち出され、ガソリン・ディーゼル車の新車販売禁止が進められています。去る7月14日にはEUの執行機関である欧州委員会が、ガソリン車、ディーゼル車のみならずエンジンを搭載したHVやPHVの販売も禁ずると発表し、自動車産業界に大きな衝撃をもたらしました。

このような世界の急速なEV化の中で、日本の自動車産業は大丈夫なのか？世界の潮流から遅れをとっている日本の自動車産業をめぐる危機的現状と、その未来、日本経済が被る経済的リスクとダメージについて、考えます。

The accelerating global transition away from internal combustion engines and the economic risk to Japan

 

The automotive industry is in no way protected from the global need to decarbonise.

Strict CO2 emission regulations have been issued in the EU and other countries around the world and bans on the sale of new gasoline and diesel vehicles are gradually coming into effect. On 14 July 2021, the European Commission announced it would ban the sale of hybrid vehicles (HEVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) equipped with engines as well as gasoline and diesel vehicles – this move sent shockwaves throughout the automotive industry.

In light of such recent developments this webinar will examine questions such as:

• What is the position of Japanese industry relative to global trends? 
• Is the Japanese automotive industry prepared to survive a rapid global shift away from internal combustion engines (ICEs)?
• What are the economic risks to Japan from this rapid transition?
