The electrification of driving schools represents a significant opportunity to help decarbonise the transport system in Québec.
The province is leading a transition towards low carbon mobility - developing a dynamic electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing sector, and implementing policies to increase the uptake of EVs.
The Government of Québec has established a pilot "E-roule electrification project" to help electrify driving school fleets. It is being delivered in partnership with the Fondation Québécoise d’Éducation en Sécurité Routière (FQESR), and aims to raise the profile and increase the adoption of EVs.
Over 110 driving schools are currently involved in the project, reaching over 35,000 learner drivers.
