Policy advocacy
With support from our Global Policy Working Group, we are launching our policy advocacy work to better connect member challenges with effective policy solutions.
We’re stepping into policy work in this year with bold ambition. This starts with building a global foundation to our work, looking into challenges and barriers impacting our members, alongside policy solutions, across all region and sectors - from manufacturing companies in Japan, to building services in the UK.
At the heart of this effort is a commitment to keeping energy efficiency firmly on the global agenda, championing it as a powerful lever for change and a catalyst for accelerating progress across our three impact areas, including the drive to meet the COP28 pledge to double the annual rate of energy efficiency.
Global Policy Principles
We’re advocating for increased policy action in lines with our five Global Policy Principles:
- Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and code
- Energy management and data transparency
- Circularity and renovation
- Financing
- Collaboration and leadership
Global Policy Working Group
Founded in 2025, our Global Policy Working Group comprises of 10 Smart Energy Coalition members. These members showcase the diversity of the Coalition to incorporate and bring to light the complex needs of energy efficiency in different regions and industries.
Through our policy work, we’re supporting corporates to meet their energy efficiency commitments and keep their insights and need at the forefront of our decision making.
